    Why do commercial drivers require a medical?

    It is a legal requirement for every new commercial driver to be medically assessed before applying for their provisional licence. Any current commercial licence driver must undergo a medical every 5 years from age 45 up to 65, then annually from 65.

    Who will carry out my D4 medical?

    The medical is carried out by a GMC registered doctor.

    What do I need to bring with me?

  • C1 Medical - Horsebox

    Why do I need a medical to drive a horsebox?

    If your horsebox weighs between 3.5 Tons and 7.5 Tons then you are required by law to have a C1 medical to gain your provisional licence. This particularly applies if you passed your driving test after 1997.

    Any current horsebox driver must undergo a medical every 5 years from age 45 up to 65, then annually from 65.

    Why do I need a medical to drive an ambulance?

    It is a legal requirement for ambulance drivers (paramedic/tech) to be assessed as to whether they are medically fit to drive? Every new ambulance driver (from 1997 onwards) requires a medical prior to applying for their provisional licence. Any current ambulance driver must undergo a medical every 5 years from age 45 up to 65, then annually from 65.

    Why do I need a medical?

    Recreational divers are required to self assess their medical fitness on a questionnaire and then under go a medical evaluation.

    >You MUST bring your GP summary medical record with you (ask your GP for this) as we CANNOT carry out the medical without this.

  • Auto Cycle Union GB Racing Medical & The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Medical

    Why do I need a medical?

    ACU / FIM Competition Licence - Road Race, Scooter Road Race, Parade, Drag, Sprint & Hillclimb, Supermoto and Pocket Bike.

    All applicants wishing to take part in ACU / FIM competitions in the United Kingdom or Internationally must hold a valid personal licence. Depending on your health and age, you may be required to have a medical first.

    The medical is carried out by a GMC registered doctor.

  • Competition / Expedition Medical

    Why do I require a medical?

    Most events such as the OCR European Championships, marathons or expeditions to remote / high altitude locations insist on a medical assessment. For your safety you should be assessed prior to the event to consider the effects of known/unknown medical problems on your physiology prior to extreme sport or extreme location exposure.

    Who will carry out my medical?

    The medical is carried out by a GMC registered doctor.

    For some competitions / expeditions a 12 lead ECG is required. This will be performed during your appointment.

    What do I need to bring with me?

    >The specific medical examination report/form.

    >PROOF OF YOUR VACCINATION history including TB test and recent blood results - if required on your form.

  • Jet Sport Racing Association (JSRA) Medical

    Why do I need a medical?

    All UK residents who wish to take part in personal watercraft racing in the United Kingdom or Internationally must hold a valid licence issued by the JSRA.

    Most applicants will require a regular JSRA medical but you may need a resting ECG (if aged >45 or have any underlying heart problems): CALL to arrange this.

  • Skydive/Parachute Medical

    Who needs this type of medical?

    If you are planning on jumping out of a plane (!) whether singularly or a tandem jump; and you are over 40 years old, you will need a medical certificate signed and stamped by a GMC registered doctor. This also applies for anyone who has had any of the following medical conditions:

    Epilepsy

    Severe head injury

    Recurrent blackouts

    Any kind of brain or nervous system disease

    Hypertension

    Heart or lung disease

    Diabetes

    Mental illness

    Drug or alcohol addiction

    Please note, there may be more medical conditions not listed above - Please contact your skydiving authority to check if you require a medical before you jump.

    Why do I need a medical?

    According to: https://www.channelswimmingassociation.com/swim-advice/a-step-by-step-guide it is imperative that your medical health has been assessed before taking on the endurance of a cross channel swim.

    Please arrange your medical appointment between October (year before) - March (year of swim).
